For years, iPhone users had it rough - if they wanted to use xDrip4iOS, they either had to build the app themselves from source code or get an invite to TestFlight. That has changed. Zukka is the official, free version of xDrip4iOS available directly from the App Store - just tap "Get".If you're an Android user and use xDrip+, you've probably heard iPhone-using friends say more than once: “it's not that easy for me.” And they were right. xDrip4iOS – the iOS counterpart to xDrip+ – was for a long time available only via TestFlight (with limited slots and invitations) or required building the app yourself from source code using Xcode and an Apple Developer account. For most regular users – an insurmountable barrier. What is Zukka?Zukka is an app for iPhone (and Apple Watch) created by Ihor Zhvanko, based entirely on the open-source code of xDrip4iOS. Simply put: it’s the same xDrip4iOS, but available directly from the App Store – no invitations, no building, no developer certificates. It’s worth noting that the creators of the original xDrip4iOS were initially skeptical about this project (there was some controversy in the community). However, after discussions with the Zukka developer, a mutual agreement was reached – and today the official xDrip4iOS documentation lists Zukka as one of the available installation options. The app is and will remain free. What can Zukka do?The list of features largely matches what we know from xDrip4iOS:Real-time glucose monitoring – Bluetooth connection with CGM sensorsSupport for popular sensors: Dexcom G5, G6, G7, ONE, ONE+, Stelo, FreeStyle Libre 2 (EU), Libre 2 Plus and othersSupport for Bluetooth bridges: MiaoMiao, BluCon, Bubble and other devices transmitting data from the sensorInsulin and physical activity trackingHome screen widgets and integration with Dynamic IslandApple Watch app – glucose on your wristIntegration with Apple HealthNightscout – sending (and receiving, can act as a follower!) data to the cloud (e.g. to your account at diab.ninja 😉)Follower mode – remotely monitoring a loved one’s glucose levels (LibreLinkUp, Dexcom Share, Nightscout and others)Alarms and notifications – fully configurable, with mute optionsStatistics and charts – landscape view, 90-day data, estimated HbA1cHow to install? This might be the shortest xDrip4iOS installation guide in history:Open the App Store on your iPhoneSearch for Zukka or go directly to: apps.apple.com/pl/app/zukka/id6743448282Tap GetDone.Requirements:iPhone 7 or neweriOS 16.2 or newerApple Watch Series 4 or newer (if you want to use the watch app, watchOS 10 is required)Connecting to CGMAfter installing the app, proceed to configure the sensor connection.
