Nightscout Reports

What are Nightscout reports? Reports are a built-in feature of Nightscout that analyzes the data stored in your instance and presents it as charts and tables. You do not need to install or configure anything - reports are available as soon as you log in to your Nightscout site. The data is retrieved directly from your database, so the reports reflect what has been uploaded by your app or uploader. Reports are useful for checking how your day went and for longer-term analysis, for example before an appointment with your diabetologist. You can filter data by specific days, times of day, and even event types such as meals or boluses. How to access reports You can open reports in two ways: From the Nightscout menu: Click the menu icon (three horizontal lines ☰ or hamburger menu) and select Reports . Directly from the URL: Add /reports to the end of your Nightscout site address. Example: https://twoja-nazwa.diab.ninja/reports How to use reports At the top of the reports screen, you will find an options panel that lets you customize the data being displayed. Selecting a period Select the checkbox and choose a date range using the From: and To: fields. You can also use the predefined shortcuts: Today - today Last 2 days - last 2 days Last 3 days - last 3 days Last week - last week Last 2 weeks - last 2 weeks Last Month - last month Last 3 months - last 3 months Tip: Avoid selecting very long periods for daily reports - the longer the range, the longer the report takes to generate. Filtering data You can narrow down the data using these filters: Notes - filter by notes Event type - filter by event type (e.g. meal, bolus, correction) Week days - select specific days of the week to make recurring patterns easier to spot Target glucose range Use the Target BT range fields to set the lower and upper target limits. These values determine what the reports classify as low, in range, and high glucose. They are used in reports and are separate from the display settings on the main Nightscout screen. Sorting You can change the display order from older to newer to newer first . After setting all options, click SHOW and wait for the data to load. Longer periods may take a while - this depends on the speed of your Nightscout server. Types of reports Nightscout offers more than a dozen report types, each presenting the data in a different way. Day to day A day-by-day report. It shows the glucose curve for each day separately, along with selected events: carbohydrates, insulin, and basal insulin. You can enable or disable individual elements and click SHOW to update the view. Additional options: Insulin distribution - shows insulin distribution Basal rate - must be enabled to see the bolus and basal breakdown Vertical scale - lets you switch between Logarithmic and Linear Size - changes the chart size, which is especially useful when printing Week to week A week-by-week report. It displays data in a "spaghetti" format - multiple lines on a single chart, with color coding for selected days of the week. Daily stats A daily report. It shows the time-in-range distribution for each day, along with the highest and lowest readings. Starting with Nightscout 15.0.8, the table also includes an estimated A1c value for each day, calculated from that day's average glucose - in DCCT (%) and IFCC (mmol/mol) units. Note: In Nightscout 15.0.8, the estimated A1c in the Daily stats report is incorrect when glucose is displayed in mg/dL (for example, it may show 95.8% instead of 6.9%). The issue will be fixed in the next release. The value in mmol/L is correct. Distribution The distribution report shows a detailed time-in-range breakdown for the selected period. It also includes estimated HbA1c and other statistics such as Time in Fluctuation and Time in Rapid Fluctuation . You can filter the data by hour - scroll to the bottom of the page. The Distribution report also includes: GMI (Glucose Management Indicator) - estimates HbA1c based on the average glucose from the selected readings Revised GMI - a newer formula intended to improve estimates for people with well-controlled diabetes %TIR, %TUR, %TAR - percentage of time in range, below range, and above range A1c, GMI, and Revised GMI are estimates based on available CGM readings. They are not laboratory measurements and should not replace clinical tests or medical advice. Hourly stats An hourly report. It shows the glucose distribution for each hour of the day as a box plot displaying the 25th and 75th percentiles, mean, and standard deviation. Below the chart, you will find a table with detailed hourly statistics. If temporary basal rates are rendered in Nightscout, an additional table with daily and hourly netIOB is displayed.
