CamAPS FX - supported phones

Not every smartphone is suitable for use with the CamAPS FX and Dexcom G6 system. Choosing the right device is not only a matter of convenience, but above all of safety and system stability for automated insulin delivery. Check which models are supported and why compatibility is crucial for users.

📲 Why is phone compatibility with CamAPS FX so important?

The CamAPS FX system is an advanced solution for automated insulin management (so-called closed loop), which works with Dexcom G6 sensors. The application analyzes glucose data in real time and, based on this, controls the insulin pump.

In practice, this means that your phone becomes part of the therapeutic system.

That is why:

📡 stable Bluetooth connection is crucial (phone ↔ sensor ↔ pump)

⚙️ system performance affects data processing speed

🔒 system security (Android) must meet specific requirements

🔋 power management must not kill the app in the background

An incompatible phone may cause:

  • loss of sensor data,

  • interruptions in loop operation,

  • incorrect insulin dosing or lack of system response.

What should you pay special attention to?

1. Android version

CamAPS FX works only on specific Android versions. Updating your phone can sometimes… break compatibility.

2. Battery optimization

Some phones (especially Xiaomi, Huawei) aggressively kill background apps – this may interrupt system operation.

3. Bluetooth

Connection stability is absolutely critical – even short interruptions can affect loop performance.

4. Official support

The fact that an app “works” does not mean it is supported – and this matters, for example, in case of issues or updates.

Why does this really matter?

Unlike regular applications, CamAPS FX:

  • controls insulin delivery,

  • operates 24/7,

  • makes therapeutic decisions.

This means that:
👉 phone = part of a medical system
👉 stability = user safety

Therefore, choosing a compatible device is not “optional” – it is a key element of the entire therapy.

Summary

If you use CamAPS FX or plan to start therapy:

  • choose only officially supported models,

  • avoid experimenting with incompatible phones,

  • check the compatibility list before purchase.

This is a small decision that can have a huge impact on the quality and safety of daily life with diabetes.
