Dexcom G7 in mylife Loop - an important change is coming for CGM users

Dexcom G7 is officially heading into the mylife Loop ecosystem. Shorter warm-up time, simpler operation, and integration with CamAPS FX signal a major change for people with type 1 diabetes. What does this mean in practice and when can we expect it?

The world of diabetes technology is not slowing down – and the latest announcements only confirm it. Support for Dexcom G7, one of the newest generations of CGM systems, will be added to the mylife Loop system.

What is changing?

Dexcom G7 is set to become another glucose monitoring option within the mylife Loop ecosystem (based on the CamAPS FX app). This is an important step, as it gives users more choice and access to more modern technology.

The new sensor primarily offers:

  • an “all-in-one” design (sensor + transmitter in one),

  • a significantly shorter warm-up time – about 30 minutes instead of 2 hours,

  • simpler startup and no need to pair a separate transmitter.

In practice, this means less waiting and less “fiddling” when replacing the sensor.

Why does it matter?

Dexcom G7 is another step toward full automation of treatment. The system provides real-time glucose data without the need for finger pricks and enables better therapeutic decisions.

Combined with mylife Loop and the CamAPS FX algorithm, it offers a real chance for:

  • more time in range (TIR),

  • fewer manual corrections,

  • greater everyday comfort.

This is especially important for people using a closed loop, where the quality of CGM data is crucial.

What about Dexcom G6?

This is also important information – Dexcom G6 will gradually be phased out.

For now, it remains supported, but the direction is clear: the future is G7. That’s why it’s worth starting to think about migration now and consulting your diabetes care team.

The process of starting Dexcom G7 is very simple and resembles the setup known from Dexcom G6. After selecting Dexcom G7 in the CGM menu, the app will guide you step by step through the entire process of adding a new sensor.

Unlike the previous generation, Dexcom G7 is an all-in-one device, which means there is no need to pair a separate transmitter – everything works as a single integrated unit.

During the initial setup in the CamAPS FX app, you will need to log in to your Dexcom account to connect the system and start data transmission.

A big advantage is also the warm-up time – in the case of Dexcom G7, it is only 30 minutes, which is four times shorter than Dexcom G6, where you had to wait about 2 hours.

When is the release?

According to announcements, Dexcom G7 integration with mylife Loop is expected to be available in summer 2026.

We still have to wait a bit for more details, but one thing is certain – this is one of the most important updates in the world of loops in the near future.

diab.ninja says it plainly :) This is not “just another update.”
It’s the moment when the CGM standard in loops begins to change.

Faster sensor startup (30 min vs 2 h), simpler operation, and growing manufacturer support mean one thing: technology is becoming less of an obstacle and more of a help.

And that’s exactly the point!
