Ypsomed is gone, mylife stays. What the rebranding and Dexcom G7 mean for myLoop users
If you use the YpsoPump or the myLoop system and something has recently looked different on the website (it is new!), in the app, or on Facebook - don't worry, it is not a mistake. Ypsomed has been rebranded as mylife Diabetes Care, and Dexcom G7 has officially arrived in the myLoop system. Two changes in one week, plenty of questions in user groups. Let's make sense of it.
First, stay calm: the name is changing, the equipment is not
Let's start with the part that causes the most anxiety. The company that made the YpsoPump, infusion sets, and the rest of the equipment under the Ypsomed brand now operates as mylife Diabetes Care AG. This is not a new manufacturer, new technology, or new registration - it is the same factory, the same production lines, the same team, just a different name on the label.
According to the manufacturer's official announcement, the technology, performance, and device compatibility remain exactly the same as before. The pump works the same way, accessories and equipment remain fully compatible, and users do not need to change how they use the device.
In practice, this means:
if you have a pump still labeled Ypsomed, it will continue to work with all mylife equipment listed in the instructions for use,
new packaging and new product batches will already carry the mylife name,
for a while, distributors may have boxes from the old and new brands sitting side by side - that is normal during any rebranding and there is no catch
In plain terms: this is a marketing and legal change, not a technical one. The biggest confusion will probably come from pharmacies and medical stores that need to update stock systems and product codes, not from patients themselves. If one day you order an infusion set under the old name and receive a box with the new one, it is the same infusion set.
A useful detail for anyone who follows the company's history: Ypsomed has been present in diabetes care for decades, while mylife had already existed for a long time as a product line (hence mylife YpsoPump and mylife App). Now the company has simply moved toward one global brand - most likely to make partnerships with Dexcom and CamDiab easier to develop under one shared name, without making customers guess who produces what.
Dexcom G7 in myLoop - what actually changes
The second update, which happened to arrive around the same time as the rebranding, is the official addition of Dexcom G7 as a CGM sensor option in the myLoop system (YpsoPump + CamAPS FX app + CGM sensor, managed from a smartphone).
Until now, myLoop has mainly relied on Dexcom G6. G7 is being added as another parallel option - it is not replacing G6 overnight. The manufacturer clearly states that G6 will remain fully supported for as long as it is available in a given market, so nobody is being forced to switch immediately.
This matters especially for:
people who already know G7 from other systems (for example the Dexcom app or other pumps) and would like to move to myLoop without changing sensors,
people on G6 who already know Dexcom is gradually phasing this model out and that, sooner or later, switching will be necessary,
new myLoop users who are starting therapy and can choose the newer sensor right away.
Compared with G6, G7 has a shorter warm-up time (about 30 minutes instead of two hours), a smaller and lighter applicator, no separate transmitter to charge (the whole unit is disposable), and - at least on paper - slightly better accuracy. Whether you will genuinely feel a difference in loop stability when it is paired with the CamAPS FX algorithm is something that deserves a separate article after a few weeks of real use. Manufacturer materials will not answer that honestly enough, because that is not what they are designed for.
Do I need to do anything?
The brief answer: it depends on what you are using now.
You are on G6 and your loop works well - you do not need to do anything. G6 is still supported, and a forced move to G7 is not yet on the horizon in Poland. If something works, do not break it just because there is a newer toy.
You are on G6 and want to try G7 - you need to go through your diabetes care team or distributor, because this is still a prescribed/supplied medical device, not something you simply buy without any formalities. The manufacturer provides a dedicated guide for switching from G6 to G7 and step-by-step instructions for the whole myLoop system. It is worth reading them before speaking with your doctor so you know exactly what to ask.
You have an older device with a Ypsomed label - use it as normal. Compatibility is guaranteed, whether your box or app still says "Ypsomed" or already says "mylife".
FAQ - no sugarcoating
Do I need to replace the pump or app after the rebranding? No. The name on the packaging and in the materials has changed. The device and how it works have not.
Will my old Ypsomed-branded accessories still work with new mylife products? Yes, compatibility is declared both ways - old with new and new with old, as long as the device is listed in the instructions for use.
Is G7 mandatory in myLoop? No. It is an additional sensor option, not a forced change. G6 remains supported for as long as Dexcom continues producing it.
Where should I get help with switching to G7? For the sensor itself - Dexcom customer support. For integration with myLoop and CamAPS FX - local mylife Diabetes Care support.
Does this mean the end of the Ypsomed brand in Poland? On the consumer side - yes, gradually. Products will move over to mylife labeling step by step, but it is a process, not an overnight on/off switch.
Is FreeStyle Libre 3 already supported in CamAPS FX? Yes, below you can download the supported phones document for FreeStyle Libre 3 and FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus
Which systems does CamAPS FX support?
CamAPS FX supports Android versions 13 to 16 and iOS versions 18 to 26, including later minor versions. The operating system must also be compatible with the continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device being used.
Please check the compatibility list provided by the CGM device manufacturer for Dexcom G6, Dexcom G7, FreeStyle Libre 3, or FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus
If you use myLoop and have already tested G7 in this setup, let us know in the comments how it compares with G6 - first-hand reports like that are usually far more useful than any manufacturer's press release.
