Finally: a loop that doesn't ask about meals!
AID systems, or automated insulin delivery systems, have been with us for several years. They work very well - as long as we remember to give a bolus before a meal and estimate carbohydrates reasonably accurately. That's the key point: most current systems are hybrid closed loops. The algorithm adjusts basal insulin, but meals still require your intervention.
CamAPS Liberty is meant to change that.
The company calls it the first commercially available fully closed-loop system. Once this feature is activated, the user no longer needs to count carbohydrates or give a pre-meal bolus. The algorithm predicts and responds to glucose changes on its own while staying within defined safety limits.
It may sound futuristic, but the feature is already available to some users in Europe.
What exactly has changed?
CamAPS Liberty is not a new app or new hardware. It is a feature in the existing CamAPS FX app, available to users of the myLoop system.
You enable it in the app settings. From that point, the system switches to fully automated mode. You can also disable the feature at any time and return to hybrid mode if, for example, you prefer to manage boluses yourself for a more complicated meal.
What does that mean in practice?
You don't need to count carbohydrates before eating.
You don't need to give a meal bolus.
You don't need to wonder whether you estimated the insulin dose correctly.
The algorithm handles it for you - automatically and in real time.
CamDiab emphasizes the reduction in mental burden caused by everyday meal-related decisions. For me, this is probably the most important part: the real benefit is freeing your mind from constant counting and calculations.

How does CamAPS Liberty work?
I have already covered this on the site in another post - CamDiab introduces a fully closed loop in the CamAPS FX system - What does it change? In short, the CamAPS FX algorithm is adaptive - it learns how the body responds to insulin and adjusts its operation to the individual user.
CamAPS Liberty is a more proactive version of this algorithm. Instead of waiting for a signal from the user, such as a meal bolus, it predicts what is about to happen and increases or decreases insulin delivery early enough to respond.
In practice, this means:
The CGM sensor measures glucose every few minutes.
The algorithm analyzes the trend - whether glucose is rising, falling, or remaining stable.
The pump receives an instruction to deliver the appropriate amount of insulin - either increasing or reducing basal delivery.
All of this happens automatically, without your involvement.
Of course, the system operates within defined safety limits - it will not deliver too much insulin or allow glucose to fall to a dangerous level.
Who can use CamAPS Liberty?
According to information on the CamDiab website, the feature is intended for:
people with type 1 diabetes aged 13 and older,
pregnant women with type 1 diabetes.
That's a fairly broad indication - and the option to use it during pregnancy is particularly interesting, because that is far from guaranteed with new technologies.
The feature is available to existing users of the myLoop system - people who already use an YpsoPump, a CGM sensor (Dexcom G6/G7, FreeStyle Libre 3 or Libre 3 Plus), and the CamAPS FX app.
Important: feature availability depends on local market approvals. It is not available everywhere yet. More on that below.
Launch schedule
CamDiab and mylife Diabetes Care announced a specific rollout schedule:

The manufacturer has also announced additional launches in October 2026.
Before the feature entered commercial distribution, it had been tested since May 2026 by nearly 1,200 selected users through beta programs, early access, and limited commercial launches in France, Spain, and Italy.
When will it come to Poland?
Unfortunately, there is no good news here.
The manufacturer has not provided a launch date for Poland.
The Polish version of the CamDiab website says: "Coming soon for myLoop AID users" - with the reservation: "Subject to local market approvals and availability".
This means:
CamAPS Liberty requires local regulatory approvals in each country.
The approval process in Poland may take time.
For now, nobody knows when the feature will become available to Polish users.
How much will it cost?
For now, there is no official pricing information for CamAPS Liberty.
The feature is being made available through a CamAPS FX app update for existing myLoop users. It will probably be offered as part of a subscription or for a one-time fee - similar to the way CamAPS FX works.
Currently, the annual subscription in Poland costs PLN 1,000. For reimbursed pumps, it is also possible to obtain reimbursement for this subscription for a period of 4 years.
At the moment, there is no information about the price or reimbursement of CamAPS Liberty in Poland. As soon as specific details appear, I will publish a post on the blog.
CamAPS Liberty vs CamAPS FX - what's changing?
For people already familiar with CamAPS FX, I have summarized the most important differences in a simple table:

What about compatibility? Android, iPhone, Nightscout?
CamAPS Liberty works within the CamAPS FX app, which is available on both Android and iOS.
As for integrations:
Remote monitoring - available through Companion, Glooko, mylife Cloud, and two-week PDF reports.
Nightscout - there is currently no official information about CamAPS Liberty integration with Nightscout. Since CamAPS FX works with Nightscout through the appropriate bridges, Liberty will probably be monitorable in the same way - but this still needs confirmation.
xDrip+, Juggluco - no official information is available (xDrip+ can retrieve notifications and send them to Nightscout).
As of the date this article was written (September 1, 2026), CamAPS requires an Android version newer than 12 (support for Android 12 ended on May 22, 2025 for Google support and on August 31, 2026 for CamAPS).
What are users saying? First impressions
CamDiab reports that early user feedback has been positive. Test users reported a lower mental and emotional burden because they no longer had to announce meals.
Unofficial reports from user forums suggest that:
The Liberty algorithm works more aggressively than the standard hybrid mode - it corrects glucose levels faster.
Some users say the system handles meals better than hybrid mode, particularly when carbohydrates are difficult to estimate.
These are still early impressions. A clearer picture will emerge once the feature reaches a much wider group of users.
Summary - is it worth waiting for?
If you already use the myLoop system, CamAPS Liberty is a feature worth waiting for. It reduces the daily effort involved in diabetes management and gives users more freedom.
If you are only considering switching to a pump and an AID system, CamAPS Liberty is a strong argument in favor of myLoop. For now, it is the only commercially available system with a fully closed-loop feature in Europe.
Is it a revolution? No. It's an evolution - but a very significant one.
